My first inclination is that this song is real heavy on the bass so your laptop speakers don't handle it as well as your desktop speakers. But humor me, what kind of file is it, what's its audio bitrate, and have you converted it from it's original file type to something else?

I need to cut a chorus out of the song I'm using, but everytime I try to, it splits the clip in the wrong place...? Maybe it's practically the same thing, but VdubMod can export a .WAV file directly from the video.

Yeah, could definitely be a driver issue. Try updating or even reinstalling them. But don't overlook the idea that it could be hardware. You could have a faulty jack.
