Final Cut can recognise many different filetypes. I personally have been using the method described in the iMovie guide - using Mpeg Streamclip to demux to a standard .m2v clip and then converting it to Apple Motion JPEG-B with DivA. Make sure you check things like the framerate and resolution befor...

I once tried using Uncompressed 8-bit instead of DV, and to be honest I barely noticed any difference. I've always been editing natively in DV as it gives almost lossless quality at a substantially small file size, perhaps not so much with live action footage, but with animation you'll barely notice...

OK i realise now it was kinda a stupid question for me to ask at the beginning because i'm finding more and more that the 'best' way to encode varies with each video. There are just too many factors to it to just make some universal rule, so i'm jus gonna play it by ear. Thanks for your replies they...

Thanks for your replies, alas i'm still at a loss. It's really annoying how the quality decreases with the length of the video - i don't really see why it should if u set the bitrate, etc - but then i dont know too much of the technical side to DivX. And I have tried exporting the video uncompressed...

Exporting to DivX (Mac)
Hi there, I've just recently remastered some videos with DVD footage and I now want to encode them for the web keeping the best quality possible. I've decided to use DivX because it seems the most widely accepted codec in the AMV community. I've been playing about with it a bit and was just wonderin...

ok, well I don't know how many of you out there are from the UK, but new releases of Dragonball Z movies and episodes have come out with different dubbing to FUNimation.....and my god, 'terrible' is too light a word. This was obviously done by people who had no clue about, well, anything! People who...

Looking for hardcore DBZ fans to help me track down a clip
Hey, I found this clip in a music video and would like to use it for my own video, but I can't seem to place where it comes from. The clip is basically adult Gohan beating the crap out of Majin Buu (in Super Buu form) at night in what looks like a ruined city. I'm pretty sure its not from the series...

haha you're right, DiVA actually works better than Cleaner, and its free. Quality stuff. Well I'm gonna stop being such a noob and leave you guys be. Thanks, my problem is officially solved. Now I have to accept the fact that if I want high quality footage I'm gonna need some serious HD space. I sho...
