Well, I've tried reinstalling avisynth again, I've specified tff or bff, I've stripped the avs-file down to AVISource("F:\finaltest1.avi") And I've even tried opening an empty avs-file, and it all gives the same error message, so I guess it must be something wrong with either virtualdub or avisynth....
