Don't use quicktime, it's a very bad, crashy and useless decoder.

It looks not-so-great because compression is too strong. It uses QPs going all above 30.
You should try constant quality mode with QP=23, or something around these lines.

Re: 2 video sources in 1 .avs script?

Is there a way to put multiple video sources in a single .avs script and have them run consecutively? Help please? But of course :) clip1=mpeg2source(...) clip2=mpeg2source(...) return clip1+clip2 Although dgindex is *meant* to open multiple files (usually vobs) and create only one d2v file from th...

AVC uses logarithmic scale for quantizers and as such, it's almost impossible to saturate it. As a guide, AVC QP 18 is XviD's Q2. Thanks to log scale, this makes QP=12 equal to XviD's Q1 and QP=6 equal to XviD's Q-half... see?

Re: processor and custom built question

Willen is 100% correct, but this is my version of the answers :) But everything I have is designed for a 32 bit system and single processor. Many of your applications are designed to work on multiple processors and you don't even know this (virtualdub anyone? :)). Will these applications still run f...

I think thats a total lie about AMD CPU's running cooler then intel Dude, just check the specs ~ power is there in official specifications. 65nm is not cooler than 90nm - at this point, current leakage becomes significant and offsets any gains from smaller transistor. 65nm's only gain is smaller di...

He could use directshowsource() but perhaps it's easier to just download a DV codec - Mainconcept, Sony, Panasonic, and finally ffdshow, are just a few that will work.

If ffdshow (recent version from March this year at least) is choppy, your computer might not be powerful enough to play h264 files.

CoreAVC might help in such case.
