I really don't see why it would be disqualified from contests just because you use anime stills or parts of a manga. It won't necessarily give your video an automatic "in" to a contest, but I seriously doubt it would disqualify it. I've seen several videos by well-known editors that have used eithe...

I know 2 videos that use them. I don't think they cleaned them up, I think they used the pictures straight from the manga. I think it can add drama, like the second video (a character profile of Kagura from Inuyasha). They use the manga pictures at the very end and it's very dramatic. But remember ...

Ignoble as this may sound. I care because I want a response, feedback, and hopefully to submit the project into a contest.

Do you really think there's any sort of code of ethics? lol. I guess not, but I believe that in any group there is such a thing as being "annoyingly weird" or "trying to act out" or "an idiot trying to look creative". That AND I'm too lazy to scour all the rules of all major contests to see if they...

Thank you for the input and link. I dl'ed 'growing up'; its piqued my curiousity.
There's a song I really want to put to stills, but it would be awful if I get flamed/ignored/disqualified from contests.

Editing Anime stills

I think they're called 'anime stills' when you freeze a frame. Anyhoo. I really liked a freeze I got, but I was wondering whether or not I may tweak it before adding to a video. Generally, is it acceptable to doctor the footage (ex. add something in the picture) before including it in the AMV? With ...

Use of Manga in AMVs

I'm not sure If I asked this already, so I apologize if I'm repeating:

Generally, how acceptable is it to mix manga with anime stills? With general audience? With contests?

How good is 640x480 resolution?

Hihi, I recently came up with an AMV idea I liked and started hording raws! Among my problems... I was reading the AMV how to guide All things Video and audio... The guide said soemthing about 740x525 scanlines? Is that really necessary? What would be a recommended resolution? What would be a minima...

question

Hi,

I read through the posts and I wanted to clarify:
1. The video was disqualified because the studio/group had posted a video before?
2. Does "the first made public" mean release on their website? upload to AMV? Or either could count as release to the public?

Thanks!
