argh, no editing posts here. frustrating.

anyway, I also wanted to mention that I'd like to avoid h264 for the same reason I want to avoid rmvb-- compatability. the users on my site almost all use windows, so WMV files would really be ideal...

one problem I have consistantly when I downscale the resolution: subtitles become incredibly hard to read. is there any way to avoid this? does the software package I use to encode the wmv file matter? basically at this point I'd go with the lower resolution if it wasn't for the matter of the subtit...

I also like wmv because almost anyone can play it, and my audience may not have codecs and other things installed. I'm wondering what the ideal way to compress thin...

trouble extracting movies from dragon quest viii

I followed the guide, no luck.

when I browse the DVD, it has the following

M:\MOVIE\

and inside are a bunch of .mvi files.

any idea how to extract them? (nova software extractor does not detect anything)

I downloaded lamemp3 and tried to install it but I got an error. now when I go to audio compression in vdub it crashes. how do I uninstall that codec so I can try installing it again? (I've looked and can only seem to find in...
