Re: Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt DVD
So is it my Blu Ray player that is the problem? I haven't tried to rip them yet. Also my old DVDs are single layered DVDs so they only hold 4.7 gigs. Your player/TV must not be doing IVTC and/or just trying to just straight deinterlace the frames. I know at least when watching DVDs on my PC using m...

Re: Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt DVD
Most US DVD sets have cut the amount of discs by half. Now I at first thought this meant more compression used per episode to fit on the fewer discs. However, after looking at a lot of new and old discs I've discovered most DVDs fit each episode into a single 1 GB VOB file. There was the rare occasi...

Re: Free disk space on hard drive decreasing for no reason
I would suggest not using WMP. Get Foobar! The thing is I basically don't, but since WMP automatically uses the Music/Pictures/Video libraries during the random times it would get open (usually for DVD playback and random testing) it would start its indexing and thumbnail generating. With over 140,...

Re: Free disk space on hard drive decreasing for no reason
WinDirStat or other similar apps are great! I found out that Windows Media Player was creating thousands of duplicate thumbnails for music/images/videos that resided in the user library folders. It was like 8 GB of thousands of tiny thumbnails. After deleting them I had to use some crazy work around...

Re: Timecode issue with rendering in MPEG-2
I've had a similar issue. When playing back a .m2v file I would have the playback time in MPC-HC display shorter than the actual time of the video. However, when the seek bar reached the end it would continue to play the rest of the video. I just did a reformat last week and tried playing a .m2v I e...

Re: What are you playing?
I hope New Vegas is better than this.... New Vegas does improve the feel of combat and feels more like the originals. VATS got nerfed a bit in NV and they added lots of challenge perks. So fighting without VATS is satisfying and very useful. In Fallout 3 the Grim Reapers Sprint perk gave all your V...

Re: Graphics Card Decisions
The Intel i5 is faster, but is only a dual core with hyper threading. Also the 7450M GPU is much less powerful than the 7690M. From these benchmark scores LINK (from a different laptop review) the i5-2430m performs much better overall. But these benchmarks only lists the A8-3500M, not the A8-3550MX....
