Basically when I have ffdshow installed Premiere pro and company don't want to run because it can't configure ffdshow.ax Are there any fixes or workarounds that will let the two coexist?

Err I probably asked that question wrong. I meant to say if it's possible to put the effect in say 30 seconds instead of just it being put at the beginning of the layer.

22MB-ish using XVID and mp3 compression.

Apparently when I try to use lame to encode to mp3 for the audio vegas says that it couldn't open the codec anyone have ideas on that?

For some reason this happens in vegas 6, works fine in 5 though, to work around it you can do this:
Change the 4CC codes in the AVI file header to:
Description code - DiVX3
FourCC code used - DiVX
for both xvid and divx encoded files.

or you can reencode to a non divx/xvid codec.
