I had the exact same problem as you a while ago. For me, the problem was with the DVD2AVI program itself. Check and see if you have version DVD2AVI 1.76. I too have a legitimate copy of Premiere. I got a really good deal on it though. My copy of v6. came bundled with my ADS Pyro DV. It even came with the printed manual. I got it all for around $200.
