For soothing and dark you could try Arcana, but the vocals don't have lyrics and are not very prominant, at least in the album I've heard. Very eerie though.

perhaps not polka, but you could check some finntroll videos for some polka-metal!

The weird cropping is because of the amount of black around the video with the Voices of a Distant Star DVD.
