Is there a way to clear my rejected/unworthy ( ) banners from my banner page?

im trying to make a banner... but since it has to be 20k or less it looks like crap. what methods or file types do people use to make their banners look so darn crisp and clean? im using photoshop cs and illustrator cs. any advice would be great. thanks.
