Is a special driver or software required??? Is it possible to have 2 graphic cards in one computer? Don't they disturb each other?

Hey any IT experts around??? I would need some help on monitorsplitting.... I really want to use two monitors for several things :) But I think it would be great for using it to make AMV's! But I can't find anything about that topic on the internet so I hoped somebody here might be able to help me.....
