Forgot to say that I do actually have FFDShow installed, so is there something I specifically need to do to get players to recognise that?

My version is PAL. That's the reason. You'll need the NTSC version of the games to obtain perfect quality FMVs. As a stopgap measure you can use the following script (or something similar) to remove some of the interlacing effects from the X-2 videos. (Haven't tested it on X) Telecide(order=1,guide...

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but when comparing the FMVs from the NTSC and PAL versions of FFX-2 I noticed that neither versions showed the complete FMV image. What I mean is that the NTSC FMVs had part of the image cropped on each side (left and right) and the PAL versions appear...
