Forgot to say that I do actually have FFDShow installed, so is there something I specifically need to do to get players to recognise that?

My version is PAL. That's the reason. You'll need the NTSC version of the games to obtain perfect quality FMVs. As a stopgap measure you can use the following script (or something similar) to remove some of the interlacing effects from the X-2 videos. (Haven't tested it on X) Telecide(order=1,guide...

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but when comparing the FMVs from the NTSC and PAL versions of FFX-2 I noticed that neither versions showed the complete FMV image. What I mean is that the NTSC FMVs had part of the image cropped on each side (left and right) and the PAL versions appear...

You need to mount the ISO file (use Daemon Tools for this) and set PsxMC to scan the stealth drive instead of your CD drive. You could also use PSmplay to rip the str files individually (this was the method I used when I ripped the Mega Man X3 & X4 movies in the past).
