I just noticed on the opinion page:
"HINT: Compose your comments in a word processor so that you can check for spelling, avoid loosing your work due to a login timeout, and save your work if you need to come back to it later. "
Was "loosing" an intentional self-reference there?

On Chat
Sorry to ask this; I know my not finding the answer is my poor looking ability, not due to its not being there. What channel and server does .org use for chat, if there is an official answer? I checked the more obvious channel candidates on dalnet efnet and undernet, but I figure it's easier to ask....

AMV judging
Well, it's a lot easier to say what makes a video bad. Too many unnecessary effects is the most common mistake I think. There are a lot of good videos that just match scenes - with original timing - with the music, and do it well. It's like drill team; ever see them? They go very slowly and don't do...

Thanks
Thanks. I never noticed you were from Buffalo before; I went to BSC for two years. And I was a Bills fan before I even went there. Watching games without a team of my ownas a kid, I loved Jim Kelly's hurry-up.

On opinions
It says not to beg for opinions here; where do people beg for opinions? I was thinking of doing my part to help critique videos, but most of thew ones with a good enough star rating for me to download them already have plenty anyway (and I'm a slow typist). And I don't believe in adding two points f...

AMVFreak: Thank you for your analysis. One point of clarification though: you said Aikawa is a common last name. I avoided the terms "first name" and "last name" because of the ambiguity; did you mean last name as given name as local to her or as surname as local to us? I can infer, but I might as w...

Please don't hold a terribly ignorant question against me...
I really like Aikawa Nanase, but lately I've seen a lot of references to her as Nanase Aikawa. I understand the surname/given name reversal from the West, but I've lost track of which one was switched, and don't want to be that stupid American "translating" her name. Bonus question while I'm here: A...

Too offensive for use.
The most offensive song I remember is the country song "Nothing quite as useless as a white girl with a [omitted];" I think that is over the top for even the most controvercial members. There isn't much redneck-AMVer crossover, is there?

On the honesty of star ratings.
I think people just tend to be more honest with star ratings. If I recall, I think well over half of the opinions are above 5, which might be people who can't figure out comparative values, but might just be due to people only rating the videos they like. If I like a video and I give it 5-10 on ever...
