For beginners, I think WMM is the best choice coz it's very easy to use. Otherwise I think Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas can provide you anything you want.... with some additional plug-ins of course!

I say Vegas is easier compared to premiere. I tried Premiere 4 times, but I m no good at it.
