Re: EZ, FREE, VOB. TO FINAL CUT METHOD! [HI QUALITY]
I'll have to try this method. I have a few questions about why it is so, so horrible. First, editing in DV is "native" for Final Cut Express. So I don't see anything wrong with recommending that Final Cut Express users edit in DV. Sure, it might not be the absolutely bestest way to do it, but it's a...

Re: Needs help Picking software
Vegas Movie Studio can be found used (or on eBay or Amazon) for VERY cheap! And I also got a copy of Vegas Pro (legitimate) for about $200 (it can be found for less). If you are on a budget, get Vegas Movie Studio—it has a lot of features and for a newbie, it's a great place to start!

Re: Final Cut Express: Horrible export quality
I did a little homework on this, and it looks like we're both right—and wrong. Final Cut does use the render files in the final output (they're not just for preview only). This is how come when you choose "Export >> Quicktime Movie" the exporting time is so incredibly fast. Final Cut is using the re...

Re: Final Cut Express: Horrible export quality
I know that the rendering aids in preview, but I always thought there was some sort of point in setting up your project to match your clips. Otherwise, why not set up every project as offline Photo JPEG? Why have the variety of setting up options in both Final Cut and Express?

Re: Snow Leopard Breaks and Fixes
I have Snow Leopard and have been converting mkv files to HD Prores MOV files straight from MPEG Streamclip, no problems. I have the perian codec installed, and whatever codecs come with Final Cut. As for what's not working—I'm having problems with my various external hard drives showing up as an ic...

Re: New Final Cut Studio
I own FCS so I was able to upgrade to the latest FCS and so far I love it. (Can't say I love everything about Snow Leopard, but that's a different story . . . ) I am also loving playing with the new Prores codecs, and am looking forward to learning Motion. (I just got a new Mac—the old one didn't su...

Re: Final Cut Express: Horrible export quality
Final Cut Express is limited, in that it wants to edit in DV or Apple Intermediate codec. If you import another kind of file (a HuffYUV avi, for example) it's going to give you the red render bar and you're going to have to render it back down to . . . DV or AIC. That's all it wants to deal with. If...
