Copying some of the video

I'm having troubles with copying certain parts of the video. I need some one to run me through it for me.

I have: Vegas Pro 8.0 and Windows Movie Maker.

Just some help in this part would be Thanked for....

Well maybe....
I only watch videos on the computer, It is easy on a DVD Player for me but Certain parts of the movie/show ( Like 2 guys fighting) I can't seem to record that part only.

I think you need to be more specific in what you are trying to do now to achieve the results you wish to get.

Are you trying to copy a specific event or sequence on your timeline?

Or are you trying to capture/rip a specific segment of a video/DVD?
