Mpg files?

i was wondering where you guys got your mpeg files for amv's from?

is there like a general source that's good? or do most have to convert avi's into mpegs? cause i don't think i have the hardware for that.

Wrong forum, and I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean source, that would be MPEG2 DVDs. You can go buy those, rip the vob files (those are mpeg2) and convert to avi through amvapp, avisynth, etc. All is explained in the sticky at the top of this forum. And that's a software solution. As long as you have a dvd-rom drive and an average processor and ram, you should be fine.

hmm thought you needed special hardware to convert an avi to an mpg.. atleast that's what the program i used said last time i used it...

don't have the program anymore though since i reformated my computer can't remember the name either.

i don't think i have a good enough computer for the level of video editing most people can do but it should be good enough to do some things..

well i guess i'll check out the sticky, and what forum was this supposed to go in?

.. I have a little package in front of me that I picked-up at Aldies ( a food chain ) and it might be just what your looking for.
1) it has a USB 2.0 plug-in for Capturing things from your VCR, CamCorder or DVD Player.
2) it comes with "ArcSoft's Showbiz" a single line Video Editor and it can take your final edits directly to CD -or- DVD ( depending on which Burner you have. )
3) its requirements are an 800mhz computer with 128meg RAM for normal encodes and a 1.6gig processor with 512meg RAM for HD 16X9 editing.

for $29.95, I thought the price wasn't too outrageous.
