: ) Hey,
I have a hypothetical situation I would like to ask and then I will explain what I have available:
I am trying to obtain the best quality ( basically ) regardless of file size since my intent is to them shrink it with the best codec available ( obviously H.264 )
OH, and I am using mainly the OS X operating system. I am open to programs that use windows but you can see how switching back and forth between OS will be annoying so OS X is what I would like to stick with ... ANYWAY:
1) With the following at your disposal how would you set out to achieve what I want:
---1. MPEG Streamclip
---2. MacTheRipper
---3. VisualHub
2) My biggest quality roadblock has been that MPEG can export to M2v, yay! The problem is there is no option to de-interlace the VOB file directly so the video is slightly warped with the scan-lines. That means I need to encode via .Mov or .AVI which drops the color levels and quality levels enough to that I can notice it.
I guess, in short, with direct dvd's in my house and all these programs how would I go about getting video quality levels like ( for example ) Scorpionp's "Bring the Beat Back"?
EDIT: Also I am aware there is likely another question like this in the forum somewhere I may have missed and would be happy even if I was pointed to a previously asked issues ... thank you!

EDIT #2: Okay, I was never, even in my wildest DREAMS, aware you could edit directly from the .VOB file as another member mentioned elsewhere on the forum.
My primary editing suite is FCP 6, just FYI + I downloaded AVIDemux ... still ... deinterlaceing is still an issue. FCP has a Deinterlace video filter however it does nothing, the lines are still there : (

Deinterlacing is why I don't edit directly from vobs. I use the avs method I discovered via Crossover/Wine.
