I've finally gotten back to work on my AMV yesterday and if I try to do anything in VDub, it crashes on me. Thankfully, and AVISynth scripts you put in stay. I want to say it started two weeks ago when I tried to get VMToon working.
Just now, I tried opening a script with just the index file and it crashes.
If I recall, one time, when it crashes, VDub stated the crash and said it was something about a violation.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it last night, but it didn't do anything.

Re: Virtual Dub Mod problem.
... its most likely "not a scripting error"
and it would have been nice if you had the Error # available.
. Sorry for taking soo long to reply;
too many errors between XP -vs- Vista -vs- Linux -vs- MAC!!!
( yes; a newer version of Virtual Dub is being tested that works on all "ALL" platforms. )
. could you kindly post the script which is failing -- I'm more than just curious
