Removing Laughter?

Post by Angelyco » Wed Aug 26, 2009 11:15 am

I have a song I want to use for an AMV but the only versions available are a radio recording or a live recording (the CD version is a live recording) and both have laughter in them. Is there a way to get rid of the laughter or is it acceptable to use audio with laughter in it?

Almost certainly not. You're better off just sticking with the song as recorded.

It's not like removing vocals, where you can try to cut out everything that's exactly in the middle (and even then it oftentimes doesn't work well); an audience laughing would probably be all over the stereo image, and probably too broadband of a sound to be able to EQ out without wrecking the instrumentals behind it.

Yea, you'd pretty much be cutting out everything except for the deep bass tones, and you would STILL hear some of the undertones of the human voices.
Thats the problem with speaking or narration including laughter, the human voice has so many over and undertones that you'd be better off spending time trying to find a strait recording other than trying to bleed the voicing out.

actually, if the laughter is over one chorus/part of the song, and there's an identical part without laughter, It'd be easy enough with the right tools. Is the laughter localized or is it all over the track?
