Yea a couple of quick things here.
What is the standard, or preferred resolution for the following?
-Cable TV
-Satelite TV
-VHS
-DVD
-Movies at the Theatre
-Anime Convention Showings
and last what is the overall prefferred resolution that would be a median to fit all the above I listed.
Any helpful responses are appreciated.
Thanks.

I think your answer for all your TV based stuff, DVD, VHS, Cable, Satelite is : 720x480.
Anime Cons, are a different cat all together because it depends on what they want, so there is no universal AMV spec out there. If you make it something standard that a DVD player can play, then you'll probable be safe.
Also movies, I wouldn't really place a resolution on those, since most all are shot on REAL film, not digitally. Real film can go all the way to something like 5000pixels :\ I believe the new star wars flick, is shot with DV or something , which has a res of something like 1080 something or toher... Not sure exactly
