It was in I think the previous release, but now it seems gone. The complete package I think should of still had that available as a download, I mean DGMPGDec still has DGVfapi included in it's software. So has Vfapi been removed from the amvapp? Is it bad to use? If so why and what is a better choice for me? AVFS? That's new to me can some people explain the differences to me? I need to know what is the better choice, not 'just because' reasons but actual reason. I'm very use to Vfapi and wondering if I really should give avfs a try. Some simple explanations on the differences will be very helpful.

VFAPI didn't work all that well. AVFS works pretty much perfectly.

hmmm... it worked most of the time for me.

I heard vfapi always converted things to rgb. Does AVFS do the same thing?
If so I wouldn't call it perfect. I just want to know what 'it' does better. Can you grab multiple avs scripts and convert them all at the same time to a fake avi? I remember that was another problem I had with vfapi.
I guess I should read the threads on it at doom9 and try it out for myself. Thought I'd give it a try asking here for some info on key important differences since I never had that many problems with Vfapi.
Just checked it out. I don't have any dvds on my computer right now to test but I did try putting a xvid in script using DirectShowSource to see if I can get the program to work(I've had a fake avi open just fine using xvid in an avs script using vfapi) and it looked like it somewhat works. Though it did crash my system for some reason when I tried opening a second fake avi. So far I'm kinda disappointed because my system that I have right now has never randomly crashed like that.
Also it seems like it could eat up more resources when using this program than using vfapi. I don't know just might explain some of the reason my computer crashed. Could the crash maybe have to do with the mounting process? Maybe I didn't install the required programs right? Maybe it's the fact that I used xvid to test the program? All these permissions it asks for is ridiculous. Can you still get multiple instances with this program?

Well, I've never experienced it crashing, and I have loaded up many scripts at the same time before.
It does not convert to RGB, it passes your avs scripts exactly as they are.
Also it never asks me for permissions when I use it, but are you using vista? Maybe thats why.

I'm using Windows 7. I just started using it. It's actually weird I just tried vfapi and I can't even get it to install. I'm brand new to using windows 7 and I can say it's the best thing to happen to me when it comes to making using my computer a breeze. Never had an issue like this yet with windows 7 but I'm sure I'll figure it out. It pisses me off that vfapi is looking like less of an option since it wont freakin install. WTF...??
One reason it could of crashed was because I did first try to open up a fake avi that was using a script that had a 1080p mkv file in it. Then later after a minute or so it finally opened up. I closed it then made sure no video players were running by checking out my processes in the task manager, then went onto checking out the two xvid files .. so I thought it was strange that it decided to crash on me when the video I opened before didn't seem to be running. Maybe one of the processes that make the fake avi work was still running the video and that may have caused the program to get over worked quite a bit.
I'll test the program out more later and maybe I can keep it from crashing again and hopefully the videos will this time open without issues.
