Problems with Lagarith in Media Player Classic

I never had problems playing Lagarith-compressed videos in MPC until a few weeks ago. Now, when I try to play them, the first few seconds jump around and get random black frames and then the rest of the video is completely out of sync and jumpy. However, Lag videos play fine for me in Windows Media Player, but I hate using that. I tried to reinstall both CCCP and the Lagarith codec with no better results (I didn't uninstall first though, not sure if that matters).

Any ideas what the problem could be?

IIRC ffdshow has issues. It might be something else, though...

Couldn't be ffdshow because ffdshow is a directshow interface to ffmpeg and ffmpeg hasn't got a lagarith decoder. No idea what's causing your issue, try something other than lagarith like FFV1 or x264. There is no real reason to use lagarith anymore for just having lossless footage, it's only useful for alpha overlay clips.

I used to have the same problem too, but it doesn't seem to happen anymore.
In any case, lagarith files aren't really meant for playback. Use virtualdub or something to seek through them.

The only time I play Lagarith files is when I'm checking my final version for MEPs to make sure everything looks good. I just don't know what's up with MPC not wanting to play them properly anymore when they used to work fine. Plus, I never know if the MEP coordinator will have the same problems I do with my files.

Well its just a playback problem, there shouldnt be anything wrong with the actual file, so the coordinator should not have any trouble using your video.
