Different Audio Outputs Create Lag

Post by DopplerDo » Fri Jan 27, 2017 5:26 pm

Hey community,

I just published an AMV that I am quite proud of, but I edited it using my Bose QuietComfort 35 bluetooth headphones. When I unplug them and listen through my monitor's speakers, the sound is synced about 2 frames later. Then I view my music video on my Surface through its built-in speakers and it seems that the sound is synced about 1 frame later than with my headphones.

This is causing me a headache because I don't know which audio output to trust. What do other artists do when confronted with this problem?

Here's a link to the video:

The hand crunching the wall should occur precisely on the beat at 0:38 (https://youtu.be/FkCfsQVl84E?t=38)

I feel like I'm going crazy! Help! :)

Scrub frame by frame in my NLE. If that's not enough, I look closer at the waveform on the timeline.

Also set my sound card/audio interface's latency and buffer as small as possible.

Thanks, Scintilla! I appreciate the sanity check. Right now, I'm exporting 5 sample files, each a frame off the other, and then I'll test them on 4-5 other computers, so I can choose the best option.

By the way, a quick shoutout to your '14 video, Matakihara. It's pretty bold, in my opinion with your technical skills, to do a quiet, elegant, and metered video like this. Great work, among your other videos, of course :)!
