Need help with Eva episodes/movie resizing

Post by Icarus » Wed Jun 18, 2003 7:37 pm

Hello people! I plan to make an AMV using both the Eva TV series and the EOE, but it seems that the TV episodes are in letterbox format while the movie is widescreen. Is there any place where I can get the TV series in widescreen, or the movie in letterbox?

If not, please give me some suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Evangelion is standard TV "4:3"(720x480). EoE 1.85, I am not sure if it's anamorphic or not. Either it's already widescreen(4:3 aspect with letterboxing) or it's anamorphic, in which case you'd have to resize it and add letterboxing. Which can be done view AVISynth.

the Eva movies are 4:3 with letterboxing. It would be nice if they were anamorphic.

What I did for my Eva video was define a mask that matched the video area of the EoE widescreen footage, and from there just used projector settings to move the clips to focus on the subjects I wanted.

Not the most optimal way, but it allowed me to use D&R, EoE, and the TV series without too much jacking around. I dunno. Maybe you'll find it helpful.

I'm just leaving all of my Eva projects on hold until the remasters are released.

I've seen widescreen episode footage in music videos before, but I have no idea where it comes from. You could probably use a Crop command followed by Addborders in AVIsynth to fake widescreen episodes, but you'd lose a chunk of the picture... you could also crop the sides off the movie to make it 4:3, but you'd lose another chunk of picture.

So basically, you're screwed.
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.

You could just crop the black area and then use lanczosresize to resize the picture to 720x480.
