PowerDVD Playback Issues

Post by Nate RFB » Sun Sep 14, 2003 7:20 pm

Now, technically, this does not have much to do with AMV-audio directly. But it is something that is very annoying in the process anyways.

I have PowerDVD, and I know the program is installed and running great. It's 4.0 for XP. It plays video pretty much just perfectly, but the audio is extremely distorted and skips a ton. No matter what I try...different DVDs...lens cleaning...nothing works. Even changing DVD players (WinDVD) produces the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's not the drive itself, because I can play CDs in PowerDVD via the DVD-Rom drive perfectly fine. Since I often skim through certain DVDs to get scenes for AMVs, not having proper audio is extraordinarily annoying. For some reason, my computer just won't playback DVD-audio properly.

hehe - quit dodging the subject and look at your queston; XP !!!

Your Audio Card Drivers are incorrect - never trust MicroSoft to make Drivers
that understand someone else's designed componants!

8) just get the most recent drivers form the web-page for your Sound Card 8)

I'm not sure...you see, it played DVDs just fine a while back. It just all of a sudden started having issues, so I don't understand how something Microsoft did would creep up just now after all this time. I have Sound Blaster Live...I checked soundblaster.com, but there didn't seem any part of the site for updating the drive itself (just buying whole new drives). I tried reinstalling the whole drive, but the same problem persists.

I've tried making sure the wires from the DVD-Rom are properly connected...I've tried an additional two more DVD Players...I've tried CDs in the DVD-Rom, all of which WORK...but, still, no DVD will properly play back sound. It's still distorted and somewhat skippy, and oddly enough I've also noticed that the video seems to skip a tiny bit too with the audio (though it's obviously not as noticeable as the sound).

Please, help ;.;
