29.97fps frameblended telecined footage

Post by chiklit » Fri Feb 18, 2005 10:49 pm

Due to the fact that whoever originally encoded the interlaced was really stupid, I now have a 29.97fps video that was frameblended instead of IVTCed like it should have been. Is there anyway to remove the blending and get it to its proper 23.97fps?

Yes, I've seen that but that's mainly for stuff that's in PAL format. This is still in NTSC but instead of IVTCing like they should have they just blended the frames togeather. And those deblending plugins usually only work if the blended frame is next to two progressive frames, but this is in the 3:2 format, with 3 progressive frames followed by 2 blended frames.

Assuming that you're working from an actual DVD, look here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... etb2a.html

There are a couple Doom9 forum links there.

That's also talking about PAL, but what I have is still NTSC.

If you read carefully, it does talk about NTSC.

Also, the techniques for resurrecting PAL blended frames are more or less the same as the ones for NTSC ones.
