I am so glad:D i found this post cuz i am trying to do the same thing using Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 The program only allows 720x480 and amvs come in all different shapes and sizes. i used vdub & the resize filter just using common sense but it does stretch the image. N-e-way to get past this little hiccup. I will be looking up dvd movie maker now....but i figured that Adobe (being the king of multimedia) would be able to do most things.

much abbliged :) :) :)

Adobe Encore /is/ the best. But to get to the right size, try going into Adobe Premiere Pro (I assume you have the best video editing program ever!) and you can resize any video using the "Motion Effect." Just make sure that your project is already the correct size and everything should work out fine for you.

Oh and by the way. It wont make your video stretched (unless you want it too) so enjoy :D

Funny, neither Nero Express nor the Sonic DVD authoring programs have ever worked for me for burning DVDs or VCDs even when i have videos encoded spicifically for conventions (though i don't know if that would make a diference or not). Errors always tend to crash both programs even after uninstalling and reinstalling them several times.

actually i have premiere 6.5 and whenever i put an amv into it, no matter the size it doesn't show the video in the monitor or when i tryed to export it. I make the project settings for 720x480 but the amv's i want to change come in different sizes. So, when i put them into premiere i get nothing. I might need a bit more detailed help. i checked in the help menu, but it doesn't tell me HOW to change size or why it's not showing the video.  :x :(

For changing frame size, just put the original video file into an AVISytnh script and put it through either TMPGEnc or VurtualDub. Something like this should work just fine:

Code: Select all

AVISource("C:\my_amv.avi")
AddBroders(28,28,28,28)
LanczosResize(720,480)
(AddBorers creats the TV-safe zone so you shouldnt lose any of the edges when played on a TV, and hence will have the full picture visable.) If the source file is in widecreen, simply add "AddBorders(0,60,0,60)" just before the resize.

When its finished, you'll either have a 720x480 .mpg or .avi, whichever you choose. And I know for a fact that Encore DVD will transcode all your source files when making the dvd so that they are in the correct format before burning.

Yes, this will work for any frame sized video.. though you may want to make the propor adjustments with AddBorders for widescreen and such.

I am asuming you have read A&E's guide and know how to make and use AVISynth scrips.
With that aside, placing an .avi file into the scrip and putting the script into TMPGEnc will create a .mpg file. Alternatly, doing the same thing but putting the script into VurtualDub will make and .avi file.

I hope that clears this up a bit for you.

(TMPGEnc = program made for making .mpg files)
