Crazy VLC sound problem

Post by erinfinnegan » Mon Sep 12, 2005 12:17 am

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forum - but I'm having this problem where VLC Player does not correctly play the audio in the AMV "Wizard of Osaka" or the Eva "Nightmare" video. The picture quality is fine, but the audio seems to drop out a lot and sound really weird. I'd think it was a codec issue - but I'm using VLC - shouldn't that cover just about everything?

Also I'm on a Mac, so downloading new codecs or trying alternate players isn't really a solution for me. (Unless anyone knows of a Mac alternative to VLC Player).

Thanks in advance!

What format is it in? If its an AVI or mpeg file, try playing it in quicktime, and if that doesn't work try redownloading it.

Both are AVI files (and both are new this year) neither will play in Quicktime, and I've downloaded the Wizard of Osaka twice already.

I swear it's some weird new codec.

In case anyone else ever searches for this thread and cares, I've figured out that Quicktime 6.5.1 won't play the videos in question, but Quicktime 7 will. Quicktime 7 only works with Tiger. I haven't upgraded from OS 10.3.5 so I'll just have to wait to see Wizard of Osaka goodness...
