You may want to use a lower value for the <b>min</b> parameter; I think by default this is set to 1 (it's not stated in the readme), but setting it closer to 0 will reduce the weights of more distant pixels in the "w2d" and "w3d" modes, which should help with banding like that. The downloads are at the links I provided. With DFMDeRainbow you'll need to copy and paste the text of the code into Notepad and save the file with a .avsi extension. Then put that in your AviSynth plugins directory. LUTDeRainbow and TIVTC are both available from direct links on the other two pages I linked to.
