Problem with Audacity

I'm having a problem with audacity, I'm trying to cut a section from a song to paste into something else but whenever I play the song back in audacity it plays it at a very slow speed. Can anyone help me out with this problem?

You haven't actually changed the speed have you? What type of file(s) are you using? What's the bitrate and the sampling rate?

I'm using MP3s, 44100 bitrate., Iono whats wrong this was working fine 2 days ago now I can't get it to work.

Hmm, odd. Once again I'll ask if you may have accidently adjusted the speed under the effects menu or something? Even though it's not something that would easily happen by accident.

Does it do this even if you import a fresh file? If it's just what you're working with, then you may want to just start over from scratch. Or maybe just try reinstalling your MP3 codec, or Audacity itself. Another thing to consider is loading a different library into Audacity, what MP3 lib. are you using in it now?

I really don't know why it would be giving you such weird results. I can only suggest some ideas, but don't have a clue what may or may not help. Good luck, let me know what you find out.

I reinstalled and it still didn't help but I just changed the rate to 96000 and it's worked fine since then which I consider wierd.
