Ususual mplayerc.exe error
Whenever I close my Windows Media Player program I get an error message that says this...
---------------
mplayerc.exe - Application Error
The instruction at 0x01371177 referenced memory at 0x01df6328. The memory could not be "read"
-------------
The strange thing is that this apparent problem does not affect my video playback whatso ever and only appears only after I close the program. I tried playing the same movies using VLC and nothing unusal happened.
I recently downloaded and installed the latest AMVapp and all its codecs onto my computer although I had a few of the programs already (such as avisynth and FDD Show) could there be a codec conflict that I do not know of?

That won't fix it at all. They're talking about Media Player Classic, not WMP (besides, all versions of WMP after 6.4 - mplayer2.exe - have been bloated, slow, buggy, and generally unreliable). The only thing installing WMP11 would do is give the system access to the newest Windows Media decoders.-Bauzi- wrote:I don´t think so. I think the best way to fix it is to reinstall,... no! To get the new version 11 of Windows Media Player.

Well I uninstalled my Classic program first and went to this site to snag the latest version I could find. After unzipping the file I downloaded I double clicked the instalation file but instead of opening up my installation manager, it just opened the classic program as if it were always on my computer. I then closed the window and the same error message popped up again.

Then the version you "installed" before was a compile made by someone and not the original Media Player Classic (which does not have the word "Windows" in it's name). Media Player Classic is an executable that does not require installation or any registry changes. The .exe is the software. Just copy it over the old .exe, and you've "installed" the new version.

Alright I get it now. Well in the end I decided to just forget about this incident as it wasn't really doing anything crazy to my computer and just focus on using VLC or the program that I know is Windows Media Player. However, a probelm just as strange has arisen. On my computer, there are files that my windows media player can play but not the classic version. Whenever I try to play these type of videos, I see a message at the bottom that states "an unkown error has occured" but of course when I use the defalut version of the program nothing happens.
Strange indeed.
