Save me from codecs

Post by Communist_Hitler » Wed Dec 13, 2006 8:49 am

Heil!

I've been having some playback problems recently, and I'm not the most video-smart guy out there, so I decided to delete all my codecs and start fresh with the CCCP or the Gordian Knot Codec Pack or the Nimo pack or something (from what I've seen on these forums, CCCP is probably the way to go).
So I opened my uninstall thing on the Control Panel and was surprised to see that I have a trillion cubed installs that I don't know what to use for. I'm pretty sure some of the things there were installed by the AMVapp but with another name on the list, (like the premiere AVS plugin) but I'm clueless about most of it.

SO... I'm afraid that I'll delete something important, which is why I copied down anything I thought looked video-related exactly like it was on the Add/Remove Programs list (except for the "remove only" warnings that I didn't put in) and I was hoping someone could tell me what to delete and then what to install for perfect playback, editing and compression.

I realize this is probably a drag but I really don't know and I'm afraid I'll delete something I shouldn't (not to mention that ominous warning in AMVapp where I can't install it during a project. BTW, I am in the middle of my first project using Premiere Pro I borrowed from my cousin). Anyways, here's the list:
  • AC3 Filter
    Adobe Premiere Pro
    AMVapp 2.0
    AMVapp Audio apps 2.0
    AMVapp Support Tools 2.0
    Audacity 1.2.2
    AviSynth 2.5
    Avisynth Filters 2.5x
    BSplayer
    CoreAAC Audio Decoder
    CyberScript v3.0
    DebugMode FrameServer
    DGMPEGDec 1.0.12
    DivX Pro Codec Adware
    ffdshow
    FLAC Installer 1.1.2a
    GSpot Codec Information Appliance
    Haali Media Splitter
    Helix YUV Codecs
    iTunes
    Lossless Codecs
    Matroska Pack
    MatroskaProp
    MediaInfo 0.7.3.1
Microsoft MPEG-4 VKI Video Codec V1/V2/V3
    MKVtoolnix 1.6.5
    Morgan Stream Switcher
    MPlayer (cygMP) 20060815
    msxml4
    oggcodecs 0.69.8924
    Pegasus Imaging's PICVideo 3
    PremiereAVSPlugin 1.5
    QuickTime
    Real Player
    RTP 1.32 Add-On for RM2k
RTP for RM2K (Png, Wav, Midi, Fonts)
    VideoLAN VLC Media Player 0.8.5
    Winamp
    Windows Media Format Runtime
    Windows Media Player 10
    XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec
    YAMB
    ZD Soft Screen Video Decoder
I thoguht it was odd that VirtualDubMod isn't on the list but I have that with AMVapp. Also, the "Playback problems" that I mention include not being able to seek in some files, shutting down or returning to the beginning when I try to seek, not displaying embedded subtitles, desynched audio, unable to change between audio tracks and one particular .avi file just won't open, but that's probably just a bad file. Note that they don't necessarily happen all at the same time.

And yes, I've checked for virus infections. That's not it.

Thank you very much to anyone who tries to help me with this.

Remove whatever version of ffdshow that is, go to http://x264.nl and get the version they have hosted there. Also remove Haali's Media Splitter and get the newest version of it from http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/ (make sure that when installing it, that AVI is not checked).

After that's done, go to ffdshow's configuration and change the desired decoders (which will vary depending on what you need it for) from 'disabled' to 'libavcodec'. That should solve most of the problems. Also, use Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player 6.4 rather than the 7/8/9/10/11 series.

You don't usually need both of these installed at the same time (unless you are using DivX for decoding clips in Vegas or some other editing software that doesn't like XviD, which isn't recommended to do anyways). And I personally avoid programs that have 'adware' as part of the name unless 'anti-' comes before 'adware' or 'killer', 'sweeper', or 'blocker' after.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

and other so on and so fort..... I find my answer in google some of that video editing program too and codec. I use Lagarith, Cinerella, Huffyuv and more in here. Just I did is look in google and find the FREEWARE for the start then so on I got the answer of my huge problem.

Oh My Christ! You try alot of program and install in your PC o.O? I guess you use other video anime to make AMV. Have your PC not running slower "_"?

Well I used all of some program you mention but there's some couple of program thingy works for me here:

for decoding of videos-------> Codec Pack All in one

here is some FREEWARE and Shareware you can find to use also included inside of some codec too!--------> Free DVD video Software

and this one is a Video Editing Converter------> Blaze Media Pro this is multiple use you can edit Audio and video too! I use this now and it's really works for me this is also a converter to any kind of video format files I have. Hope this will help you if not just PM me and I will help you more as I know other program. :D :)[/b]
