Whatever you see from you .avs script in Vdub is the quality that frameserving with VFAPI will get you. All it does is wrap the .avs or .d2v file in an .avi container, thus creating the AVI header, which is what an editing program will look for. If you disable audio, the fake .avi files will take up very little space.
For example, I have a fake .avi of episode 5 of Azumanga Daioh (that's the whole episode) sitting on my computer (without audio), and it takes up a whopping 2.52 MB. Just be sure to keep the VOB files where they were when you indexed them.
Again, test it out and be sure your computer can keep up with a frameserved .avi.
