Hi guys,

lurker here, but I so wanna say thank you for these guides, I vid for two years and after reading your guides I actually understand what I’m doing, when I rip a DVD or chose between settings. Your guides are excellent written, never boring and considering the stuff you explaining I don’t know how you managed it to be funny in the right spots. But a big thank you, there are too much ‘quick and dirty’ guides out there and I’m glad, I landed finally here. Oh, and more PAL explanation would be neat…

*back to lurk mood*

I'm sure that a lot of stuff has already been answered and stuff, but I wanted to say this anyway. With all of the filters that come with AMVapp, is there a possibility that there'll be a part in the guides that actually tells us what some of the stuff means? Sort like a glossary, but for all of those terms that I have no clue what it means. Also, any guide help for advanced scripting other than just letting us know how to import D2V files into Premiere using AVS would be a huge help.

I've wanted to do a majority of my processing in AVS and just leave all of the editing in Premiere.

It's not a glossery but it tells you how to use some of the filters to clean up your video.

There is going to be a whole new detailed section on postprocessing as a new encoding initiative. The focus of encoding is going to change completely to teach people that it's not the codec settings but the way you prepare your footage which is important.

There will be a glossary of sorts for these things, but really there are too many filters to detail them all. Each filter usually comes with help documentation so you can start there.

I realise that ErMaC and trythil sort of touched on this, and while I agree that theory is a fine thing we should remember that application is quite a different beast.

My most hair pulling experience with the guides was the first time I wanted to IVTC a really f**ked up disk. I found that learning what to look for in both the frames and the fields, what tools to look with, and then how to use that information to build a script specifically for the disk took quite some time. And, I firmly believe that the knowledge can be passed on – although I realise that quite a bit of text would be required.

If it makes a difference, I'll even offer to write the first draft (no credit required).
And like KMV said, please do an expanded guide on how to do an IVTC.

I just had an idea, don't know if anyone mentioned it or not: What about adding a search function to the guide? It may be a little unnecessary, since it's really not that large, but have you thought about it?

Would that really be necessary though, I mean, the index page is pretty good for finding where you want to go... I dunno, it could help I suppose...

*Salutes*

I originally entered amv editing as a hobby, but the current guides has some of my friends who entered amv editing kinda confused... [and makes me feel all techie]

Whatever you guys do to the guides, I'm sure it's worth it.

Keep it detailed/complex. Idiots shouldn't be making amvs... [headbutts wall*]

I couldn't read the entire thing, but I'm pretty sure its not there. How to make smaller clips to edit with. I had made all my clips already, but then I said. "SPOOT! These things a GIGANTIC!"
I found running a bicubic resize down to, lets say 180x120 gives you a desent look of what your doing, and lets you render quite fast. Oh, AVISynth the bicubic resize and save thew VitualDub. But you probably knew that. I spent a day with diffrent methodes and programs tring to figure it out. It was so simple!
