Apparently ErMac is just reading someone elses posts. I have indepthy responded to EVERY SINGLE ONE of his points.
It's like trying to have a serious conversation on religion with a stupid bible belt christian.
Yeah, maybe for me it is.
He's not making any rational arguments,
Oh really, which argument specifically did I make that wasn't rational? Oh I see you're like Tab, you think that just saying things is gonna somehow bring down the magic blue fairy to wave her lil wand and make it all come true for you without any actual arguments, facts, etc.
he isn't going to change his viewpoint,
Actually, for the most part I don't have a viewpoint of my own. During this whole debate I've been trying to express the viewpoint of the average encoder.
so just let him be. Let him think he's superior.
How does ANYTHING I've said make me look superior? Certainly Tab has been overcompensating quite a bit, but not me. I'm merely going around stating the blindly obvious.
Maybe it'll make him feel better.

Take confort in the fact that the rest of us know who's the real idiot in the conversation.
Ahhh yes, more name calling, boy that makes you look REALLY smart! ^_^

I can summarize what I am getting from this... useing DVd and VHS as examples... from when DVDs were first being introduced

Madd Hatter's arguments given perspective (go back 8 years for the referances)
VHS plays video and audio just fine for me
All DVDs are being used for is video and audio... sure it has all neet features... but nobody is using them... and DVDs are not fully compatible... there is nothing that a DVD does that we need anyway... VHS is good enuf for anybody

or another way to summarize Madd Hatter's argument
64K should be good enuf for anybody

Just because I like arguing, I will tell you why you are wrong, hatter. Because you are making the argument for your beloved OGM container based ONLY on usage by your warez folks. They are NOT the only people that need a container. There are legitimate needs and uses for every single feature that matroska supports. Just because YOU don't need it, doesn't mean its worthless.

I need 32 gig of ram... not going to happen any time soon...

with 32 gig of ram I could build a 28 gig ram disk... use premiere in the 4 gig remaining (its a 32 bit app so could only use that much) and edit these damn projects on a ram disc...

ddr in dv size is only 18 gig...

You mean you aren't just gonna sit there waitng in glorious anticipation of that magical blue fairy to come down, wave her magic want, and make all your dreams and arguments come true!? BLASPHEMY!

And if we were arguing about it in the context you're on, heck you'd even be right! But the thing of it is, we're not. This whole argument is about the distribution of media, ie the warez folks. And I know a lot of you REALLY don't like this lil fact, but YOU ARE warez folks. Maybe not so much with anime since it's all chopped up, but uh, you are essentially sharing songs back and forth, up and down, all over the place. I'm surprised the RIAA hasn't shut this place down already...of course granted I am quite the active participant in this community and the RIAA generally doesn't like to get on my bad side.

We have a nice lil arrangment, they go after the cracker white bread average American folk, spread around as much lies, deciet, propaganda and scare tactics as they like, they don't interfere with me, those like me, or any of our affairs and in return I as well as various others like me choose not to destroy the DMCA. `, )

I think Beta vs VHS better describes my argument than VHS vs DVD. *shrugs*

I'm not saying you're wrong, though (I certainly don't have the authoritative knowledge to declare that), just a loser.
