ok I seem to bwe missing something here:
VLC player is non-fuctional!
the DVD's arn't playing right!
.. in lenux 10.10 everything worked; what am I missing??
le-HELP!

Use mplayer or mplayer2 instead of VLC. The latter is especially recommended: http://www.mplayer2.org/
