grainy footage

Post by slimed » Sun Jan 05, 2014 10:13 pm

working with bluray footage and it seems that digital grain was added. what filters might be best to remove or minimize it? or would it make more sense to not use bd rips for this? i'm not completely sure that the grain is only on bd footage of this anime but i'm pretty positive it's intentional so i might end up leaving it be anyway.

few example screencaps:

From that screenshot, it looks like it's an intended texture which most likely was lost in the DVD version. But to better judge it would help to have a screenshot at 1080p from the .m2ts, instead of a filtered resize.

That's your idea of grainy?

Really?
