Slow Videos
When I try to watch certain videos, the actual video footage goes really slow and sluggish, but the music goes at a normal pace.
If this information might help:
I have a Hewlett Packard(Windows 98)
Umm... I only have 393 mb of space out of the 4.00 GB on the computer(That might be the problem, but most videos are just fine...so I'm not sure).
I use DivX(not sure which version)
I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. I think it might be the fact my computer is really old,but most of the videos I try to watch run perfectly. So far, 3 videos have done the whole slow footage thing.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might help...
And because this is my first post,^_^ nice to meet you all!

Ok the problem is your computer. With specs like that, the poor thing doesnt have much hope of drawing 25 images every second, esspecialy with the complex algorythms of mpeg4 video. The only solution is to save up and buy a new computer. Computers these days are pverpowered for what most people use them for, so a cheap comp at around $1000 should do the job nicel, and woent be to bad to edit on iether.

Is that in US or Australian?bum wrote:Computers these days are pverpowered for what most people use them for, so a cheap comp at around $1000 should do the job nicel, and woent be to bad to edit on iether.
I'm sure you could get a perfectly competent computer for media-center-type use for about $500 here... maybe less. Systems that cheap are all over the computer catalogues that come in the mail and stuff.

$1000 would be more than enough with AU and US dollar. You could build yourself a very nice system with that, 3ghz procesor, 160GB hdd, 512ddr, dvd burner, and everything els. The monitor would probably cost more than the rest of the components, but $250AU for a 17inch flat screen ctr aint a bad price. Personaly I would never buy a oem system and would kill a freind if they ever did, but if your not that computer savy then they're a decent choice.

You may also want to try Crystal Player which is the best player for videos that your pc cant handle. It has some options you can configure which will allow it to buffer the video as it plays, allowing you to view parts that are normally too tough for your pc to handle in real-time.

Oh, come on! For the past few years (maybe longer), eMachines has been selling perfectly reasonable systems. They're kinda like Hyundai that way.Kalium wrote:Gah! Evil! Evil!AMVfreak wrote:Hmm? I myself am still running an eMachines T2080 from 2002. Came with an Athlon XP 2000+ (Palomino), DVD-ROM drive, CD-RW drive, floppy, 80 MB Maxtor HD, and 512 MB of Samsung PC2100 RAM.
Only upgrades I've had to make to it since are adding a SoundBlaster Audigy (for recording), two new hard drives, and a SATA controller card.
