AVISynth processing suggestions for Saikano

Post by x_rex30 » Mon Sep 05, 2005 11:20 am

I get a lot of good suggestions from AMVWiki.org and they're very helpful, but I'd really like to get the best quality out of Saikano and unfortunately they don't have any suggestions listed there for it yet, so I thought I may ask here though maybe I should ask there.. or something : | Anyway any help is highly appreciated.

Maybe it would be best for you to post an unfiltered screenshot or short clip so that it would be easier to evaluate, just in case noone that's worked with Saikano decides to post.

Thanks for at least posting.

Here's a screencap with no filters, and it's already pretty nice looking and the interlacing easy to fix.. I just want the best quality, and want to know what others have done with it.

I'm thinking of just starting to work with the footage. Gotta get to work, gotta get to work!! >.<

Saikano doesnt really need much filtering. If anything, I would say very LIGHT spatial and temporal smoothing.

The main problem with saikano is the dark scenes don't compress very well. Even at quantizer 2, your encode can appear a little blocky. I don't really know much that can be done about that, but for the most part you shouldnt need to worry too much with filtering this anime.

Also, maybe just a tad bit of sharpening might help. Maybe.

Alright, I've got it looking the way I like it. I had the order wrong in a certain part of the script, so it seems great now!! ^_^ Thnx though for the suggestion.

Look ok? (personally, I like it..)

If you want it, here's the vdub processing setting. (if you like doing post processing work in vdub)
It's just Unsharpen Mask (with top and bottom edge borders) and Hue/Saturation (with minor intensity).
You can tweak the settings all you want to get it the way you want it.
This can also be done within the avs script.

Maybe you already have similar stuff going on?
Everyone else can go ahead and use this setting if they want. :)

That's really nice looking! I'll probably try out your settings. Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^

I may be imagining things, Hitori, but it looks as if your processing adds a slightly yellow color cast to the picture.
