WMMA: The Windows Movie Maker Alliance
This forum is for people who use windows movie maker and can do great things that are willing to share. Being stuck using WMM (my computer isn't great and adobe premier chokes my comp) there are plenty of effects I wish I could do. I survive very well, but there are little things like: Reverse a clip, have a fade in and fade out of a seperate clip within a primary clip (There is probably a better name for that, but I dunno). Any other thngs that people have questions for, just leave it here. I am going to do some extensive research right..... NOW!

Off cource by that you mean that the most important tool required for editing is editing skill, and the want to practice editing because it doesnt matter how great your editor is if your skills dont match up. It's possible to make great amv's using wmm and anyone who sais otherwise simply lacks experience.psycoculex wrote:WMM really only is for joining clips together. If you want to make better vids it would require you to use it in conjuction with other various free tools eg. Vdub - photoshop - WAX.

I thik what he is trying to say is that this THREAD is for WMM users.
2.) Since when is Photoshop free??!
1.)I have seen a lot of really great AMVs made just in WMM. It isn't just for cutting and pasting home movies.psycoculex wrote:WMM really only is for joining clips together. i guess i meant "a" photoshop - they come free with printers and shit. I guess im just trying to say WMM has its limits.
wtf if you actually read his post - the dude is trying to discover ways of doing certain/advanced effects which are in some cases impossible to do freely in WMM itself.I thik what he is trying to say is that this THREAD is for WMM users.

I've done a fair amount of research on WMM myself.
http://www.papajohn.org/
http://www.rehanfx.org/
Both of these are sites with tips and tricks related to using WMM effectively. Look at Rehan's site here for a trick to reverse video; it involves using VirtualDub to reverse a clip to import into WMM, basically.
http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Forums/
A forum devoted to WMM users.
One of WMM's more interesting features is the ability to have custom transitions and effects made for it (I know other programs have this feature as well, but it's a pretty cool feature for a free program). This seems to be overlooked a lot by people here, for some reason.

Thanks guys you're being really helpful. For starters, the first post where I am rightfully corrected. I did not mean to call this the original forum. I don't post messages too often, so I didn't know what to call it. This little sub sectiony poster thing is for WMM. It sure does have its limits, but it's what I'm bound to, so hey, gonna make with what ya got!

i dont know if this is really a helpful tip, but if you want to just flash an image or short clip while a bigger scene is happening
you can split the scene where you want the image to flash, then put it there, and then overlap the clip after it as far as possible over it without going past it
then overlap the image/clip into the clip before it, and it should work
i like that effect in my videos so i thought someone else might
