I made a SVCD using Nero Express 6.0 and I burned at 40X ( which I didn't want to do).
I put it in my dvd player. I thought I would get a menu screen since I picked out one in Nero, but all I got were files. I selected the SVCD files and my videos were there. They played for 1 second and stopped, also there were a lot of weird "blocks" on the video. I don't know what went wrong.
I've been looking thru the threads and many people suggest I use TMPCEnc. How do I use this with Nero? Do I encode using TMP and then do a straight data copy? or Do I encode with TMP and use the Nero SVCD funnction again?
Also, are there certain specifications I should follow?
I got these specifications on another site and I wasn't sure if I should follow them:
"You will have to select your appropriate settings (16:9 aspect ratio, interlace, Field B for field order and NTSC video CD and 352X240 resolution for american format) and then encode it."
I'll appreciate your help. The quality of the videos wasn't the super best, but I liked it enough to watch it on my TV.

352x240 is the format for a VCD. For SVCD it's 480x480.
I don't think you must encode with TMPGEnc. SVCD is MPEG2, and TMPGEnc can encode it only during the trial time. But if you do, you should still use the SVCD function of Nero to burn it. If the vid is correctly encoded, it doesn't reencode. What you should make sure in every case is that it is resized correctly.
Not all players are able to playback SVCD correctly. If you want to burn a CD that runs on every player decide for a VCD.

Thanks Keeper for clearing that up.Keeper of Hellfire wrote:352x240 is the format for a VCD. For SVCD it's 480x480.
I forgot to ask, some of the videos are not a "square" size. They are "widescreen/anamorphic" size. I'm assuming that I should use something other than 480X480 for svcd in that case. Does anyone one the specs for that?
I'll be looking for more info in the meantime. Thanks again.
