help with dBpowerAMP?

Post by Hoaxx » Mon Oct 23, 2006 1:50 pm

I'm trying to record something that is playing on my browser (a quicktime stream) using the dBpowerAMP Auxiliary imput feature, i am using this

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... o3c.html#3

guide, and it states that i need to select "wave" from the drop-down menu labeled "source". The only problem, is that in my version, next to "source" is a button named "select". When i click this button i get a box similar to the one you get when double clicking the little speaker icon in your task bar (audio options)

in other words, the latest version of dBpowerAMP differs from the guide's version!

halp? :(

I'm having that same problem too...

I can't select the source as wave so the audio test VU meter and the actual conversion (attempts) show no bar/input and, obviously, record nothing.

In your Windows volume controls:

- Go to Options -> Properties
- Select the "Recording" radio button
- In the list at the bottom, there should be an option along the lines of "Wave/MP3", "What U Hear", or something similar; make sure its checkbox is checked
- Hit OK - this will take you to the recording volume controls
- Find the option you just made sure to activate, check its "Select" checkbox to make it the active recording source, and make sure its volume is not set to zero

Thanks, but that doesn't work. All I have under volume controls > recording is SPDIF Interface and Line In. (That of course is for both Windows volume controls as well as DBpowerAMP's) I tried setting it to SPDIF but that did nothing...

... Well, you could always select Line In and run an audio cable from your sound card's Line Out jack to its Line In jack and do it that way?

Is there any way to simply get the versions that AD uses? I've tried searching for them but the old Auxiliary input app doesn't seem to be online anymore. It seems odd that they would give the newer version fewer features...or does my sound card "not allow it?"

If the only recording input options available in your volume control are Line In and S/PDIF, then it looks like your sound card doesn't allow it.

I've never used the program, so I have no idea where to find the older versions.

I put the song onto another computer and was able to get Auxiliary input to select the source as wave. But now when I test or record, the VU meter still shows no sound when my song is playing (volume is set to max and wave is set as only record source). Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

just find the url where the stream is hosted and save it to local.

That isn't impossible, although it is unlikely. Some streams end up saved in your WINDOWS/TEMP folder while playing and are deleted when you close your browser. If all else fails (And I mean ALL else because doing this is a big hassle) you can scavenge the TEMP folder for the file (maybe clearing it right before loading the stream would be the best way to do this).

Is the cable where it should be? The sockets for speakers, headphones and microphones are all the same type (I mix them up all the time x.x)
