Issues VirtualDub
Okay, so I'm going through the AMV guide for working with DVDs... everything is fine until I try to preview with VirtualDub. The image comes out like this (see below)
When I check the source file back in DVD2AVI, theres nothing wrong with the image (revolutionary girl utena movie btw) Previously, the only problem was that VirtualDub would suddenly shut down everytime I tried to go through the frames, I looked on their website and it said the DivX 4.1 codec may be a reason so I uninstalled it. Now that I can go through the footage on VirtualDub, I found this new problem (really crappy messed up video!)
I've written the code exactly like it says to for AviSynth, so is this a problem with the codecs? Do I need to reinstall them? Or do I need different ones?
My computer has a Pentium 4 Processor and runs on XP. The source footage is from a Region 4 (New Zealand) DVD.
I would greatly appreciate any help offered :3 Thanks in advance!

Also try different versions of virtualdub mod and avisynth. Awhile ago when I tried upgrading to the latest version of both I had crashes and weird video artifacts all over the place. I rolled back to the versions included in AMVamp and the problems went away. I think there's a compatibility issue with some of the newer versions.

I'd go with Minion's and godix's suggestions first, but if they don't work you may have a colorspace problem. Try adding any one of these lines at the end of your script:
Code: Select all
ConvertToRGB32()
ConvertToRGB24()
ConvertToYUY2()
ConvertToYV12()

Hi there, thanks for the help guys, I've gotten VirtualDub to show the video now... however... now when I try to save as AVI, the program will just close *sigh* *headbang*
So I'm guessing RAM or yet more software issues? I have 512mbs so *shrug*
Again, any help is appreciated :3

512 should easily do the trick.
i've found that even running in error mode can crash vdub if you have bad frames. bad frames bad be the culprit here.
i would try installing amvapp though and using the versions of avisynth and vdubmod that come with it though. they're proven to work with eachother

It's less likely, but if it crashes when you click "save as AVI", maybe something is wrong with the export codec?
