I really don't know where to put this in...

Post by Leon_KH_Squall » Tue Jun 19, 2007 2:52 pm

Well, I need some help (again). I imported some samurai champloo episodes from a DVD (.vob files) the decrypting run without any problems, it only said it would use "brute force" or something like that, which would take longer time.
I tried to see the vob files in my computer and there were no problems.
But when I opened DGIndex, the "player screen" was so:

I ignored it, finished he process and now i have an avi which is very small and hasn't got the size it should have.
Where is the problem/What can I do?

Try loading different vobs, are they all like that?

352x576, despite being DVD-Video standard conform, is a very unusual resolution. So maybe DGIndex doesn't resize this resolution properly. And of course, the AVI will have this resolution too. It's no mistake. For editing you have to chose a proper PAR, lets say 2.14. Or resize it with your AVISynth script.

DGIndex does resizing at all?

Anyway, yeah, I'd say just resize it with AVISynth. 768x576 would be proper 4:3 with no flags.

Don't remember. It's too long ago that I did use it. But since the thread opener was surprised that a 352x576 vid looks that way I assumed it would normally resize.

IIRC, 352 is the height you'd get by cropping the black borders off anamorphic footage. Could it be playing sidewise for some reason?

No. 352 isn't the height, it's the width. It's a proper but rare used resolution for DVD. Check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Video
