Interlacing Help, please

Ok I want to start off by saying that I'm using ErMaC and AbsoluteDestiny's guide

I've tried to produce a few AMV now, but my finished products keep coming out interlaced and looking like crap. I've tried to do numerous avisynth commands trying to get it to work but to no avail. Maybe I'm using it wrong, but I dont know, Im trying to learn this without any formal training and I'm not that computer literate honestly.

The anime's Ive tried using are Bastard, Samurai Champloo and Samurai 7, all of which I'm ripping from the dvd's I own.

If anyone can help me figure out how to get the footage progressive before editing let me know.

If its only possible to get the footage progressive after the edit, let me know what too. I just dont want to put a ton of hours into making and amv again, only to have the end result be an interlaced amv that looks like crap.

That your final AMV comes out interlaced can also be a matter of wrong import/project/export setting of your editing program. Make sure that all is set to progressive.

I strongly recommend to learn deinterlacing with AviSynth. It isn't that difficult if you follow the guides (I recommend the beta of the new guides). VirtualDubMod doesn't obey the pull down flag, so if you have hybrid footage (what many anime are), it'll screw the speed of some parts.

There is also a chance that even though you use the de-interlacing command, your footage actually becomes more interlaced than it was... This could be a matter of wrong resolution. Happened to me with Advent Children footage.

That doesn't exist o.o

But it could be that you have the wrong field order. You need to check for that. Follow Keeper of Hellfire's suggestion; it's a whole lot easier if you deinterlace before editing and edit progressive. EADFAG explains all you need to know about deinterlacing in AviSynth (be sure thet you're reading the latest version) so it should be an easy task if you devote enough time to it. If you still have trouble, post your script and a screenshot and we'll be able to provide more thorough assistance.

My footage was not interlaced - But changing the resolution with Lanczos Resize to a specific resolution actually seemed to interlace it. When I changed the resolution, the footage was crystal clear.

No way that resizing can cause interlacing. I have no idea what happened to you, but there must have been something wrong with your filter chain, and the resizing has made it visible with something that looks like interlacing. Resizing of progressive frames can blur them or sharpen them, but never interlace them.
