Exact Audio Copy

Post by Yaeone » Thu Sep 27, 2007 6:57 pm

Alright, so I'm in a bit of a jam... once again. @_@ Now I'm having trouble with the program Exact Audio Copy (EAC).

I had a song I wanted to use on itunes. Because it's difficult to try to convert that into a file I can use. So, I looked in http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... dio3a.html like I did for the rest of my amv-making questions (because I'm a newb) and it said to burn the song to a cd.

Okay, I did that.

Then I go and download EAC like it said. It said for me to Drive Options and go to the Extraction Method Tab. I clicked "Direct Read Features button."

The "Accurate Stream Feature" was supposed to come up, but it didn't.

What should I do? Is there a way I can change my itune song into something without doing the extra step of burning on to a cd and using EAC?

I hope this isn't a repeat to any other forum topic. >.<

You'll need a CD in your drive to have the "Detect Read Features..." button to actually do something other than just bring up a new window with an OK button. If you did that and "Accurate Stream" doesn't show up, then sadly, your drive doesn't support that feature.

As for the CD you burned through iTunes, if it plays on a regular CD or DVD player or if you "Open" the CD through Windows Explorer and the file(s) show up as Track01.cda, Track02.cda... then EAC should be able to rip the music into a WAV file.

If you are having problems with burning the song to a CD via iTunes, read my post in this thread: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=79414

If all that fails, then try QTFairUse (http://www.hymn-project.org/). It can decrypt the m4p file which then can be converted to a WAV using Winamp (http://www.winamp.com).

BTW, here's an easier way to do audio conversion with a current version of Winamp (5.32 or newer) without going into the Preferences and mucking with settings and plug-ins:

1. Open the audio file you wish to convert or add it into Winamp's Playlist Editor.
2. Right click on the song in the Playlist Editor to bring up the option menu.
3. Select Send to:, then Format Converter.
4. Choose the folder you wish to save your new file and how you want it named.
5. Select under Encoding Format, WAV Encoder v1.01.
6. Click OK (and wait).
