I was wondering if it was possible to rip data DVDs like regular video DVDs, or extract video files like some PS2 games in this thread. One of my friends sent me burnt DVD containing original live action, and one of the videos is DivX encoded while the rest is mpeg2 encoded. I haven't tried anything yet, just asking to make sure I don't have to waste time trying just to find out all I have to do is convert the video files to make them editable.
I imagine ripping/extracting would have the same result as copypasting, and it would be easier just to convert the copypasted video files, but I just wanna make sure.

Re: Data DVDs
Yea, you should be able to just copy and paste the files off the DVD onto your HDD and encode from there if it's a data DVD.

Re: Data DVDs
Aright. For some reason I had thought ripping/extracting would produce better quality or an easier way to clean the footage until I started really thinking about it at work. Thanks
