Having trouble with VDub and H264.

Post by UkuleleCyborgProductions » Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:59 pm

Okay so let me sum this up.
I had the MKV videos with H264 codec. I couldn't get them to import into VDub because of the H264 and I don't know how to get scripts to work or maybe I lack codecs or something.
So by somebody's suggestion I downloaded AlltoAVI and spent all night, leaving it running while I slept, converting the 4 episodes (That program is slow.)
I get up today and go to import my new AVI files into VDub. They apparently still have the h264 codec and still won't properly import into Vdub. I guess I thought it was going to change the codec as well but apparently not.

So what is the best way for me to get this working in Vdub? I'm in a slight rush so be as detailed as possible, please, if you don't mind. :)

I have to get to work but I'll check for replies when I get home.

Thanks in advance.

If you are using an avisynth script to load the mkvs into virtualdub, then it should work fine, provided you are using the directshowsource or the ffmpegsource (in this latter case you also need the dll in the plugins directory of avisynth).
If you are, indeed, loading with either of the ones and it still won't work, then it's most likely a codec issue... but if you can playback it in Media Player Classic (note: if you are using VLC, it's using its own internal codecs which aren't available to other programs), then the issue lies elsewhere. In the case you are using VLC to watch it and can't watch the video otherwise, then I suggest you to get the CCCP, it will come with all the needed codecs already properly setted.

Wow Thank you very much! CCCP allowed it to load into Vdub with no problems whatsoever. I appreciate the help a lot. :D
